Pachi the Porcupine: Mascot of the 2015 PanAm Games in Canada

By Robert Machado

"Pachi the Porcupine" is the mascot for the 2015 PanAm games in Toronto and surrounding areas.
It was selected by a panel of children who voted online. It was created by four schoolgirls who got the name of Pachi from a Japanese phrase that means "clapping with joy".

Pachi has forty one quills representing each of the nations that will attend. The colours represent: green=youth, fuchsia= passion, blue= collaboration, orange=determination, and purple= creativity.
